We are in hard times. The world is in hard times and I am of the opinion that we need to be proactive about changing our situation. What is the single most important part of a growing economy? It is the demand side of the economic equation. Real simply there are only 2 sides, supply and demand. The demand is what drives an economy and the demand for our products and services is at a low. For that to increase we need to increase confidence and to get millions of people back to work and that won't be easy. Some say let's just wait, the confidence and jobs will come back in time, it always has. Not good enough, too many will suffer and have already. Put people back to work and that is the beginning of building confidence, people feel better when they contribute, have purpose and not to mention a little money to spend. That concept is not complicated. To do this quickly will take an investment in our future and this is exactly what President Obama has in mind with his American Jobs Act.
This is an attempt to get people back to work quickly and in areas that are necessary like infrastructure and education. This is a start and I am for it. I have contacted my Senators Bill Nelson and Marco Rubio and my Representative Alan West, below is a generic copy of my letter for all to see. This is important and could be a turning point in how long this recovery takes. If you feel as I do, we need to do our part to make this work. Our part is to let the people that work for us know how we feel and what we expect of them. I would urge you to write your representatives and do just that. Please feel free to copy/paste/modify my sample and use it. Did I actually sign mine Lebowsky… :o)

(Congressman/woman, Senator) ___________________
President Barack Obama has presented his American Jobs Act this week. The purpose of the American Jobs Act is simple: put more people back to work and put more money in the pockets of working Americans – without adding a dime to the deficit. The President will release a detailed deficit reduction plan in the coming days that will pay for every penny of the American Jobs Act and include additional deficit reduction sufficient to stabilize our debt as a share of our economy.
As my (Representative, Senator), I want you to know that I want this Jobs Act passed as quickly as possible. It is unacceptable to me for you to say no. The time to act is now. If after all this time you have an idea that you would like to propose in addition to this act, please do so, get it on the table. I hope I have made myself clear on this.
The alternative is that during the election in November 2012, I will be the one voting No to you.
Respectfully and with Urgency,
Lebowsky
