This is called a Waxing Crescent Moon, meaning that it is moving towards being a half moon. Just one day after the New Moon at this time only 1.95% of the moon’s surface is illuminated and it is stated as the Moon’s Phase: 1.95%.
I captured 24 images in the 15 minutes the moon was visible with the sky growing darker each minute. With each image I would make a small adjustment to the available settings for the camera, each producing small subtleties, some good and some bad.
These are the images I liked with the changes noted that are different from the auto setting. Exposure time is set by my camera based on the other settings I choose. This camera has a 3x Zoom and the last image was enlarged digitally 150%.
Bottom line: Don’t be afraid to experiment, this is how you get to know your equipment.
