Just after the sun sets is when you can find Froggy. A Cuban Tree Frog emerges from his daytime home, which is the top track of my patio sliding glass door. With a short nasal sounding "raaaannnnnt," he announces his presence.

Keep a sharp eye out. This one is emerging from a ½ inch piece of EMT (Electrical Metal Conduit) leaning on the wall used as my BBQ poker.

Sometimes more than one likes the same place.

Calling to one another, they make their way to the pond.

I have seen this look before and know that the next jump might be my way.

This time the jump was to the bush next to the sliding door.

Once over at the pond they stake out their territories and then the symphony begins.

Back and forth they call to one another.

Just after sunup the party over, they make their way back home. This guy has chosen a bird house next to the Staghorn Fern hanging in the Orange tree.

Amused by Froggy dragging his butt home is Diego the Dragon Fly.

A quick head count and school is in session at Goldfish U.

At the little pond Mr. Green Heron is also counting heads.

You win this one camera man, but I shall return. Mangos are looking good.
Our Froggy is a Cuban Tree Frog and they can change colors quickly from a light grey to a dark brown. Not native to Florida they are here to stay now and well established up through the central portion of the state.
Back in 2003 when my 2 small ponds were created to breakup the backyard and provide primarily a water garden for lilies it didn’t take long for these tree frogs to move in. In the evening if you are wondering where they might be, all you have to do is imitate their call and they will answer letting you know right where they are.
The Heron is sneaky :o)
